Sustainable Storage Goals - How do you fill yours?

This week we’ve added a selection of super stylish Le Parfait glass storage jars to our shop

Sustainable Storage Solutions

The perfect sustainable storage solution, glass has long been used for storage in the home, keeping food fresher for longer, and keeping your pantry looking neat and tidy.

Glass is natural, 100% recyclable and can be recycled an unlimited number of times. It’s resilient, air and water proof, and preserves flavours without affecting taste. Basically, glass is the healthiest packaging material. All these properties, combined with its aesthetic appeal, make it a favourite packaging material for storing food.

At Local Zero HQ, we are big fans of glass jars, especially when combined with neat labels from a Dymo label maker. Judging by feedback from our customers so far, you told us that you also like things to look nice, as well as being functional. That said, we are by no means perfectionists, and in fact, so long as it is reusable, that’s cool with us, but since you asked, we have responded by adding a range of traditional Le Parfait jars to our online store.

About Le Parfait Glass Jars

Le Parfait was founded in the early 1930s in Reims, France, at Verreries Mécaniques Champenoises (VMC), a major glass-making company. With a steady production of high-quality wares and a product line that has continuously evolved to meet consumers’ changing needs and desires, Le Parfait served the glass jar market throughout the 20th century. The brand built its presence in grocery shops and general stores all around France, helping make it household name.

Style or Function?

With the rising popularity of the Marie Kondo and the KonMari method, and the Netflix series Get Organized with The Home Edit, more people are mindfully organising their store cupboards in a more visually appealing way; making use of clear storage solutions, and labels to not only make their shelves look great, but also make it easy to see what you’re looking for at a glance.

So the burning question is, how do you store your store cupboard essentials?
Are you a refill hero who buys in bulk and decants into reusable containers? Or do you refill as you go, buying only what you need to top up your tubs? Do you recycle old jars and tubs with an anything goes attitude, or have you invested in an insta-worthy matching set specifically for the job? Do you prefer plastic or glass? We’d love to know your thoughts, so we have set up a survey to find out more about your preferences when it comes to refill storage solutions, so please do take part and give your feedback.

Perhaps you are new to refill shopping, and have no clue what we are going on about? (If that’s you, then you might find this article of interest)

Making refill shopping easier for you.

As a start-up venture, marketing research plays a huge part in shaping the future of our business, and from the surveys we have conducted so far, we have found that a whopping 42% of shoppers said that not having enough time was holding them back from refill shopping, while 38% said too much effort was required and they found it difficult to source the products they wanted.

This is actually good news for us as we believe that Local Zero is the solution to these challenges; There's no need to load up your car and clamber across town with all your containers! With Local Zero you can shop online from the comfort of your armchair, or on the go, choosing from a growing range of groceries, household cleaning and beauty products, selecting the refill size that suits you. Check out quickly and easily and we will then deliver to your doorstep by zero-emission electric van.

All of our refill products are delivered in 100% reusable and recyclable containers which you can choose to use or decant the contents into your own storage, and we will collect the empties which we then clean and recirculate as part of our closed-loop system, so NOTHING goes to landfill!
