Meet the Team - Louise Ellison

This week, in our 'meet the team' spot, we introduce you to our Marketing Manager, Louise Ellison...

LOUISE, TELL US THREE THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF?

I'm a wife and mum and have lived in Hampshire my whole life. As a family we enjoy being outdoors in the local countryside, spending a lot of time walking the dog on Stockbridge Common and Danebury Ring. 

I’m very creative and enjoy singing; I’ve performed with Andover Musical Theatre for 14 years. 

As well as working with Local Zero, I am a freelance marketing consultant, specialising in helping small businesses plan their brand and marketing activities. 

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN LOCAL ZERO?

The plastic problem is something that causes me a lot of anguish and I get really frustrated with supermarket packaging! It can feel impossible to make a difference to the world, but I’ve been making small changes here and there, such as only buying loose vegetables and composting more food waste, and noticed a big reduction in how much I’m putting in the wheelie bin. When I heard about Local Zero I liked the fact that the core of the business was to make it easier for us all to make more sustainable choices when it comes to shopping and also the concept of supporting local businesses. 

WHY DO YOU THINK LOCAL ZERO IS IMPORTANT?

People are starting to wake up to fact that we NEED to change our habits for the sake of our future generations. The environmental situation we are in with levels of waste, especially single use plastic, can feel overwhelming and until something happens at legislative level, big retailers aren’t going to take action so it’s up to us to support the businesses that are doing everything they can to be more sustainable. 

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN LOCAL ZERO?

I oversee all of the Local Zero marketing activities. I created the Local Zero brand and I’m responsible for making sure that everything we do is in line with the visual identity and has the right messaging, such as social media, business stationery, uniforms and packaging. I set up the e-commerce website, and take care of all our outgoing communications, such as blogs, newsletters, press releases, and flyers.
