Meet the Team - Francesca Hall

In this week’s meet the team spot we introduce  you to our part-time Assistant, Francesca aka Frankie. 

When she’s not studying hard at school (this determined young woman has her sights on becoming a kick-ass Lawyer) self-proclaimed eco warrior, Francesca, enjoys learning about sustainability and is pleased to be playing her part in taking positive action against climate change. 

FRANCESCA, TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

I have always cared about saving the environment in any way that I can. In the past couple of years I have been consciously trying to reduce my plastic usage and minimising waste in our home. When we got our puppy, the first thing I did was buy bio-degradable poo bags! 

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN LOCAL ZERO?

When my mum and dad announced they were setting up Local Zero I was really excited to get involved. I used to help my mum when she went to the refill shop, and it was a bit of a pain having to carry all the containers and jars for her, so I think the idea of delivering to peoples doorsteps is brilliant. It's good to earn some money whilst getting some good work experience too.  

WHY DO YOU THINK LOCAL ZERO IS IMPORTANT?

I think Local Zero is important because it helps people to make more sustainable choices when it comes to shopping. Many people avoid refill shopping because it is quite a hassle and Local Zero makes it so much easier. If we can get more people shopping locally and be more conscious about reducing waste, rather than going to the big supermarkets where everything is in plastic, then collectively we will help the environment!

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN LOCAL ZERO?

I help out with Local Zero at weekends and sometimes after school, usually with things like  printing, labelling and packing orders and sometimes I get to go out on deliveries in the electric van. I have also been involved with taste testing for new products (especially sweets and treats) to make sure that they are good enough for our customers.
