Local Zero partner with Featherstone's English Flower Company.

Ethical, Sustainable English Flowers now available from Local Zero.

We are delighted to announce our latest supplier partnership with Jess and Katie at Featherstone’s Flowers, bringing the best of British-grown flowers to our customers doorsteps across Hampshire.

Featherstone’s Flowers is a three acre flower farm located in the stunning rolling hills in The Wallops in Hampshire. It is a passion project of Jess and Katie, both qualified horticulturalists, and both sharing a strong belief that British grown flowers, particularly those from the mixed flower farms, are by far and away the very best flowers available, and we are inclined to agree; these beautiful blooms not only look fantastic, but they also come with a list of eco-credentials, as long as your arm, so working together to combine our passion for zero waste and sustainability, is a no-brainer.

The ambitious pair recently joined forces to form the new company, after Jess's flower farm (Heathercroft Meadow) outgrew it's existing space and Katie was desperate to grow flowers on a larger scale and expand her floristry business. Together they found the new site in Wallop, with fantastic potential to allow them to grow masses of wonderful flowers, along with an impressive Tythe barn from which they will operate their workshops and other exciting projects!

Sustainable and affordable flowers for all occasions.

Jess and Katie strongly believe that flowers should not cost the earth. Their flowers are grown in the most sustainable way possible. No pesticides are used as they believe that promoting biodiversity is the best way to manage those creatures we would rather not see too much of. They protect and promote the soil life and structure through no-dig methods of production, adding compost and mulches to the surface of the soil.

They are also as zero waste as possible throughout all that they do and look to reduce, reuse and recycle in every aspect of the farm. Buying flowers grown by us means flowers which have travelled the least possible distance. We do not use heat or peat to grow. British flowers produce around 95% fewer greenhouse gases than those imported. You can also be sure that any flowers grown by Featherstone’s haven't been repeatedly sprayed with pesticides and herbicides (unlike those imports).

The Ethics of Featherstone’s Floristry - Only modern, foam free floristry

You won't find any floral foam at Featherstone Flowers. They only use natural, compostable or reuseable methods. They find that these are more flexible as they can be truly bespoke and can actually make the flowers last longer than they would otherwise. They aren't shy about this and love to share and teach others how to do it too. Using methods from the past, with a modern twist, they are able to create imaginative and beautiful arrangements.
