Local Zero & Featherstone's sell Tulips For Ukraine

Thank you everyone who supported our Yellow Tulips for Ukraine fundraiser.

We’re delighted to tell you that together with Featherstone's Flowers, we raised almost £1500 for the British Red Cross Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

British Grown Tulips for a good cause.
The tulips were supplied by Collisons Flowers, a family run farm which has been producing cut flowers in West Norfolk for three generations, since 1966. The Collison Family pledged an incredible offer of 2000 yellow tulips, at no cost, to independent flower farms and florists across the UK, to sell and raise funds for support those in need during the War in Ukraine.

Distributed across the UK by English Flowers, our supplier partner, Featherstone's English Flower Co, then prepared the bunches ready for us to deliver to households across the Test Valley area.

Our Director, David, spent his birthday weekend out and about in the spring sunshine, delivering the tulips to the recipients, raising smiles in these dark times.

"I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday! The sun was shining and I was greeted by lots of happy, smiling customers, all grateful to be doing their bit for an excellent cause. When I collected the flowers from Featherstone's Farm, the display of hundreds of yellow tulips, symbolic of the situation in Ukraine, was quite moving and it was my pleasure to be a part of the fundraising effort. "

It was a truly remarkable weekend seeing the power of our community coming together for good, with local businesses joining in too - displays of the tulips were spotted at The Grosvenor Stockbridge and The Crown Upton, where the yellow blooms featured on each of the tables in the restaurant.

What next for Ukraine?
The whole team at Local Zero have been so moved by the desperate situation in Ukraine, that we are committed to doing more to help support those that need it.

A number of our friends have registered with the government scheme to host refugees in their spare rooms and we would like to help those looking to lend their support in and around Stockbridge and the local area.

We know there are a number of community groups which have been set up to connect those who are offering refuge and to build a support network for Ukrainians who relocate here, and we want to help people to get involved, so if you know of any groups, facebook pages or offline networks, please let us know as we would like to assist in signposting people who want to get involved.

We welcome connects via any of our social platforms or you can get in touch by email to shop@local-zero.co.uk
